Your internship will include impactful hands-on work within a county department, networking, professional development, and building lasting connections with other interns, mentors, and Manatee County team members.
- Program Dates: The 2024 internship program will begin on May 19th, 2025, and end on August 8th, 2025.
- Internship Hours: Up to 27 hours/week (maximum), Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; may vary by department.
- Pay Range: $14 per hour up to $20 per hour (graduate/ master’s student), based on the number of credit hours earned.
- Using Esri ArcGIS solutions and field collection tools, intern(s) will perform field collection/verification of county-maintained assets.
- Intern(s) will review, correct and reconcile collected data into Manatee County’s existing authoritative GIS data repository.
- Intern(s) will learn/improve competencies related to GIS, cartography, and field collection processes.
Department Responsibilities:
- Facilitate apprentice-level GIS training through available ESRI training modules and exercises.
- Mentor and oversee specific project formulation with intern(s) operating in supervised training Project Manager roles.
- Facilitate routine, preestablished quality control and quality assurance audits of intern progress through intern-led meetings and presentations.
- Will provide necessary field tools and transportation to allow for safe and effective field work.
Internship Program Responsibilities:
- A presentation to the County Administrator and other County Leadership staff is required at the close of the internship program.
- Participate in all organized intern events and trainings.
- High school diploma, or equivalent (if applicable)
- Eligible to work in the United States – we love local, national, and international students!
- Currently seeking a diploma or degree through an accredited secondary or post-secondary educational program, or within 12 months after graduation.
