Job Description
JOB GOAL:
To support disciplinary procedures and policies to ensure a safe and orderly environment at the High School and Middle School level.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience working in education or any other related field is preferred.
- Minimum of a High School Diploma is required
- College credits towards a major in Education or other related field is preferred.
- Communication skills in both English and Spanish is preferred.
REPORTS TO: Dean of Students
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to read, interpret, and enforce MSA’s Code of Student Conduct, and appropriate state and federal statutes.
- Ability to demonstrate effective skills of listening, speaking, and writing.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work in a positive manner with children and peers
- Ability to use computer software such as Microsoft Office and Google Platform among others.
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
- Demonstrates a mature responsible attitude necessary for the position
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Support and assist students in managing their behavior and in achieving their social and behavioral targets both in and outside the classroom.
- Assist individual students experiencing difficulties in managing their behavior by supporting them outside the classroom/social group
- Assist students back into the classroom/social group when they have regained management of their behavior
- Set a good example to students through own presentation and personal and professional conduct.
- Support administration and faculty in establishing and maintaining a purposeful learning atmosphere and setting high expectations for students’ behavior
- Contribute to developing and implementing of policy and good practice for behavioral support which reflects the school’s commitment to high achieving and effective teaching and learning
- Ensure that support for the behavior management of students is consistent with the school’s Code of Conduct; sharing good practice with colleagues
- Assist in establishing good relationships with parents and caretakers and provide information about social and behavioral progress and
- Maintain confidentiality at all times in respect of school-related matters and to prevent disclosure of confidential or sensitive information
- Undertake tasks of a similar nature as directed by the Dean of Students.
- Maintain comprehensive files on each student requiring disciplinary action and maintain records for adults.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 15 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
- Ability to stand, climb stairs, ramps, work outside and inside, work with extreme noise on occasion, and walk around campus.
