The success Manatt's, Inc., enjoys today in the construction industry started 76 years ago. Back then, it was one man, one truck, and now our team of employees numbers more than 750 strong. We have dozens of ready-mix and asphalt production facilities around the state of Iowa. Our massive fleet of dump and ready-mix trucks serves thousands of job sites every year. In addition, our concrete and asphalt paving divisions, along with our various other crews, complete hundreds of projects every season.

We have an immediate opening in our Brooklyn Office for a Custodian. 

The custodian maintains the cleanliness and upkeep of our facilities. The Custodian will ensure that the building is kept in an orderly, sanitary, and safe condition, providing a clean environment for staff, visitors, and clients.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Sweep, mop, scrub, and/or vacuum hallways, stairs, entry area, restrooms, kitchens, break areas and office spaces daily.

Replenish restroom supplies as necessary.

Remove spots and stains from carpets as necessary.

Dust office area daily and ductwork as necessary.

Gather dirty dishes from small kitchen areas, run dishwasher, and return clean dishes to designated areas daily.

Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces such as water fountains, doorknobs, and light switches daily.

Report any maintenance or repair needs, safety hazards, or issues with equipment to the supervisor.

Monitor and maintain cleaning inventory, ensuring that supplies are stocked, and equipment is in good working condition.

Ensure all cleaning materials and tools are used safely and efficiently, following health and safety standards.

Clean and sanitize all countertops daily and tables as necessary.

Perform floor care tasks such as stripping, waxing, and buffing, as needed.

Wash glass doors daily and windows as necessary.

Deliver copier paper to designated areas as needed. 

Empty trash cans and recycling boxes daily.

Assist with setting up and breaking down events, meetings, or special activities as required.

Pop and deliver popcorn to designated areas daily.

Feed fish daily and replaces water weekly.

Maintain a positive and courteous attitude with all staff and visitors.

Other duties may be assigned.           

WORK CONDITIONS

Paid days off follow the schedule as outlined in the Company Handbook.  Because of the limited size of the Maintenance Department, it is normally not possible for more than one person to be absent at a time.  Supervisor must approve paid days off in advance.

During absence of other maintenance personnel, additional tasks may be required to include but not limited to emptying wastebaskets and recycle bins, shutting off lights and air compressors in shops, and locking all doors.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence. 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
