JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for leadership and management of the organization’s entire general educational support program and learning center including assessment, planning, organization, implementation and evaluation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess the organization’s general educational needs and develop a comprehensive program supporting the above-mentioned area in cooperation with the club’s other direct program staff. Directly responsible for supervising education program support staff and volunteers, assuring that the Club’s education goals and objectives are met.
- Responsible for the full implementation of BGCA education-based programs including, but not limited to : Power Hour, Goals for Graduation, Smart Moves, Project Learn , Career Launch and Money Matters.
- Develop and foster a positive climate for youth and ensure that all members actively participate in a variety of programs / activities, feel open to seek advice / guidance from staff in regard to problems; and receive care, respect and recognition for their efforts. Provide additional guidance to members in instances where more in depth behavioral modifications are needed.
- Manage the expenditures of the education budget, within the established financial guidelines of the organization in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Programs & Leadership.
- Promote and market programs to members via posting of daily schedules, announcements of upcoming events, etc.
- Responsible for general program supervision and collaborate with the Assistant Director of Programs & Leadership and participate in discussions at the yearly program evaluation retreat.
- Perform other program and operational tasks to meet overall goals and needs of the organization including bus-driving responsibilities when needed.
- Performs supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include safety, interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Direct summer day camp responsibilities outside the general area of school year responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
