Title: Language Access Coordinator
Contract Year: 228 days (prorated for 2024-2025)
Effective Date: Available immediately
Salary Grade/Range: $70,000 - $80,000
The Language Access Coordinator works closely with students, families, staff and community partners to coordinate the district’s language access services, including the full scope of interpretation and translation services. The Language Access Coordinator also works to improve cross-cultural communication and engagement to support the success of culturally and linguistically diverse students and their families.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, World Language or a related field or three years of equivalent experience. Evaluation & verification of international higher education transcripts/degrees is required through an accredited service. Any evaluation agency that is a current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) can be used for this purpose.
- NH teaching licensure preferred
- Bilingualism and biliteracy preferred: written and spoken fluency in applicable World language(s) at the intermediate-high level, as determined by either the AAPPL or Avant STAMP 4S world language assessments, which are aligned to the National Council of State Supervisors of Foreign Language (NCSSFL) & American Council of the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) language proficiency benchmarks.
- Must be proficient in the use of technology, systems and software, including advanced software for AI translation and Adobe Pro.
- Valid NH driver’s license
Major Responsibilities:
- Oversees and coordinates the scope of services available within the Manchester School District's Language Access Plan.
- Manages procurement process for supplemental contracted language assistance service providers.
- Assists in the development of the annual budget.
- Reviews monthly invoices and monitors expenditures.
- Tracks utilization of Multilingual Liaisons and contracted service providers to ensure efficiency of resources
- Creates monthly budget and program reports to share with the executive leadership team.
- Maintains district webpage for language access services.
- Conducts orientation for Multilingual Liaisons, contracted interpreters and translators.
- Main point of contact for third-party language access providers.
- Coordinates professional development opportunities for the Multilingual Liaison team.
- Develops and delivers training for school-based staff related to the rights of students and families with Limited English Proficiency (LEP); the district’s language access plan, including vendor resources and procedures; as well as, creating inclusive and welcoming school communities for LEP students and families.
- Manage interpretation and translation requests district-wide.
- Performs a variety of administrative support tasks to support the implementation of the MSD Language Access Plan & Multilingual Learner Education program.
