JOB DESCRIPTION for:
BUYER
Schedule: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
Pay Scale: $18.00-$22.00 per hour DOE
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· 2 years of experience in a buyer position
· 2 years of experience within the Aerospace manufacturing industry
· Experience working with manufacturing based technology, processes, and principles
REPORTING:
- This position reports directly to the Procurement Supervisor
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adhering to all policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual (Doc# 50226)
- Adhering to the codes of the company’s Quality Management System.
- Adhering to the expectations as outlined in the general and position specific expectation documents as applicable.

- Maintaining a reasonable work environment and providing adequate safeguards for the work-related health and safety of employees. This includes ensuring the area complies with all Federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Maintaining confidentiality on all corporate subjects so classified.
· Sourcing - Locates sources for critical materials, parts and services. Supplier selection process to be in conformance with Manes Machine & Engineering supplier policy. Negotiates supplier contracts to minimize overall investment while supporting the company’s needs.
· Procurement – Performs the following procurement functions:
1. Purchase Orders – Issues purchase orders to qualified suppliers selected for their capabilities to meet the company’s needs.
2. Kanban – Setup and maintain higher volume parts on our Kanban system.
3. Accuracy – Update database with current cost, changes to accounting, quotations, supplier history, and supplier lead-times.
4. Expedite Orders – Expedites order as required for manufacturing process to meet the customers’ requirements and communicates situations that will impact delivery.
5. Assure Availability – Assures material availability to support the manufacturing process by placing sub-contract orders and purchase orders to qualified suppliers in response to Scheduling (JobBoss) action notices and shortage reports.
6. Non-Conforming Material & Certification Requirements – Coordinates rejected material and certification requirements consistent with policy and delivery schedules.
7. Achieve Cost Reductions – Investigates new methods or products that could benefit cost reduction and product design/redesign.
· Involves Supplier - Involves supplier in product design/redesign; requests price and delivery quotations as required by Product Managers and/or Engineering.
· Supplier Management – Follow-up with suppliers as necessary, to resolve delivery problems, cost changes, or quality issues.
· Maintain Files - Maintains accurate files on supplier lead times, part costs, and quotations.
· Monitor Supplier Performance – Monitors supplier lead-times, on-time delivery, and quality performance.
· Communication – Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Should be able to communicate using various types of software (Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel). Must be comfortable communicating at all levels of organizations here at our company and at the supplier.
· Customer Service – Consistently works towards a 100% customer service level goal.
· Satisfy Customer Demand - Works with Sales, Marketing and Production Control to satisfy customer demand.
· Advise Management – Advises management of pending material shortages, capacity constraints or other trends that may affect procurement or profitability of the company.
· Continuous Improvement – Assists in the development of marketing/manufacturing strategies and objectives including customer service objectives, backlog/lead-time objectives and inventory levels. Leads improvement initiatives when possible.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a plant environment to include moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives. Safety Glasses must be worn in all required areas. Safety Toe (Steel or Kevlar) shoes or boots must be worn at all times, while working in the manufacturing areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, ear protection is provided if needed.
