Administrator’s Role and Responsibilities:
Administrators at Manhattan Schoolhouse are professionals who are deeply passionate about the importance of creating a safe, loving, organized school for children, parents, and teachers. Administrators understand the importance of working as a team to address the numerous and variable day-to-day logistics of managing the school. To make certain that administrators fulfill this mission, Manhattan Schoolhouse has created a culture of collaboration between the administrative staff and teachers so that a high quality of care for all of the members of the school community is implemented each and every day. Below are the main, daily responsibilities of the Administrator.
The central role of an administrator is to assist the education director and associate director in managing the day-to-day organization of the school. Administrator’s must make sure that the site’s physical space is safe and organized, and that all classes are following their daily routines. Primary responsibility is to cover the front desk, answering the phone and door.
I. Main Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Record keeping - ensure all staff and children's file are updated.
- Guide new hires on training and help gather documentation for their employee file.
- Creation and announcements of scheduling for teaching staff: daily schedules, break schedules, prep schedules, after school coverage schedules,
- Revise schedules daily as necessary
- Creation and announcement of school-wide schedule changes for staff and families
- Creation and communication of specials’ schedules
- Make sure that all schedules are followed
- Continuous daily, weekly, parent communication – emails, telephone calls, meetings, announcements
- Editing of weekly journal or daily Tadpoles Reports
- Work as liaison with Department of Education Instructional Coordinators and other DOE staff
- Collaborate on the creation and implementation of a Reggio Emilia inspired school environment.
- Collaborate on planning and hosting of school-wide events
- Supervision of staff – making sure that all DOH & MSH policies and procedures are appropriately followed
- Manage questions, concerns and communication of teachers and parents
- Give tours to perspective new families
- Make sure that all classrooms and site are in DOH and DOE compliance
- Maintain organization of site
- Meet with teachers about policies and procedures accordingly
- Assist with informing lead teachers about admissions’ changes and create transition schedules for new students
- Oversee that proper daily handling and discarding of food is followed by all staff
- Checking of daily sign-in/out sheets – making sure new ones are placed out daily and that all families have signed in and out accordingly.
- Call for maintenance as needed
- Cover the front desk and answer the phone and door.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
