What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Clerk position at Manhattan Youth?
The Payroll Clerk will assist the Comptroller and work closely with the Payroll Coordinator in the day-to-day operational activities of the Finance Department as they relate to payroll.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing paper time cards for data entry into batches
- Entering new hires in ADP
- Review time card submissions by full time employees
- Analyze full time hourly time cards for overtime pay;
- Issue stop payments on lost checks in ADP;
- Process sick time and mandated trainings requests;
- Assist with setting up open enrollment;
- Process rehires, terminations, tax change, direct deposit and address changes;
- Assist with Transit, FSA, Dependent Care and Parking submissions;
- Respond to inquiries via payroll email;
- Clean up stale checks monthly and process wage garnishments;
- Provide payroll reports to the Comptroller, COO and CEO upon request;
- Pull middle school wage reports to Comptroller;
- Review part time hours worked against employee schedules;
- Provide access to employees for creating their ADP accounts;
- Serve as a back up to the Payroll Coordinator.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- College degree preferred;
- Experience processing payroll preferred;
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and CSV formatting;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Ability to work independently and as a member of the team;
- Ability and commitment to meet deadlines;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Well-developed sense of humor.
