Under the direction of the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Administrator is responsible for processing payroll for the office of the Seminole County Clerk of Court and Comptroller. This position is classified as non-exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Once satisfactorily completing the probationary period and initial training, this position will be remote.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Verifies time entry in electronic time keeping system and upload the payroll data into digital system to calculate wages and make payments.Ensures employees are paid correctly and on time.Ensures compliance with federal and state laws.Ensures compliance with the Clerk of Court and Comptroller Policy.Reviews and ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates entered by the Clerk of Court Human Resources Departments (HR), to include new hires, terminations, pension and changes related to pay rates.Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.Processes taxes and payments for employee benefits.Prepares reports for the finance department, upper management, etc. (journal Entries, quarterly 941 taxes, etc.)Addresses issues and questions regarding payroll from employees and management.Ensures payroll issues are escalated and resolved promptly.Maintains confidential files.Processes income withholding orders – review, set up, continued maintenance for Child Support, IRS Levy’s, Court Ordered Garnishments, etc., as needed.Performs other duties as assigned by the Payroll Manager or the Director of the Comptroller’s Office and Clerk Finance.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Knowledge of bookkeeping and payroll or duties related to payroll. *Experience in JDE and/or TCP a plus.Skill in Microsoft Excel, Word and Adobe.Skill in organizing and prioritizing work.Skill in taking initiative to complete assignments.Skill in detail-oriented work.Skill in operation of computer software and hardware sufficient to enter, retrieve and manipulate data.Ability to work under pressure.Ability to adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines.Ability to work remotely from home during specified hours. (strong, reliable internet connection, familiarity with digital platforms, quiet setting)Ability to work in a virtual team setting with heavy communication via Microsoft Teams for chatting and Team meetings.Ability to work after hours or come into the office when/if required. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing. Ability to understand and follow complex instruction.Ability to pay attention to detail and maintain confidentialityAbility to make decisions.Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with officials, fellow employees, Team Leaders, Managers, Directors, Clerk staff and the public PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Manual dexterity, Talking, Hearing, Repetitive motions. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. VISUAL ACUITY: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading. The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
