What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal position at MANITOWOC COUNTY?
Manitowoc County Corporation Counsel is seeking a Paralegal. This position provides paralegal and secretarial support to the Corporation Counsel and Assistant Corporation Counsel and:
- Perform paralegal duties for Human Services Department cases, including but not limited to: assisting with interviews, drafting affidavits, petitions, and orders. Insures proper filing, distribution, and service of pleadings and other legal papers. Schedule witness interviews, collects information, prepare affidavits and exhibits, and review briefs. Perform legal research as assigned.
- Performs secretarial duties, including but not limited to: answer telephones, type and proofread correspondence and legal documents, maintain correspondence and other files. Maintains and uses manual and computerized file system and address database. Organize and compile necessary information for County Board Meetings.
- Performs paralegal duties for civil litigation, including but not limited to: preparation of correspondence, pleadings, subpoenas, and other papers. Insures proper filing, distribution, and service of pleadings and other legal papers. Schedule witness interviews, collects information, prepare affidavits and exhibits, and review briefs. Perform legal research as assigned.
- Performs administrative duties, including but not limited to: scheduling appointments, court dates, and meetings; performing general research, and responding to inquiries.
