Logistics Lead – Trucking Dept
Pay range is $19 - $21 hour
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for overseeing the receiving department to ensure the rating and routing of all orders to assure shipping costs are minimized and delivery efficiency and customer satisfaction are maximized. Provides backup for other relevant warehouse positions as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Receiving and documenting inbounds (with quality control) per established procedure.
- Plan and prioritize inbound loads to maintain a stable and efficient workflow, coordinating with other warehouse personnel.
- Responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing work, mentoring and training employees
- Rate and route all orders as necessary in order to maximize delivery efficiency.
- Research and analyze freight costs and classifications, load configurations, delivery methods and delivery schedules to minimize delivery costs and maximize customer satisfaction.
- Run a variety of reports for multiple tasks
- Deal directly with vendors to ensure prompt and accurate delivery of goods to appropriate locations.
- Handle and communicate any delivery inconsistencies or delays appropriately.
- As needed, solicit carriers for updated rates, enters information in system to assure accurate information.
- Coordinate with relevant Mann Lake personnel to discuss freight.
- Must maintain an acceptable attendance record in accordance with company policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in a warehouse setting is a plus.
- Beekeeping and /or agricultural experience is a plus.
- Good computer skills.
- Proficient reading and math skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as proper phone and customer etiquette.
- Must have good safety habits, problem solving skills, attention to detail and action oriented.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to effectively communicate with others both written and orally, including the telephone.
- This position is in the warehouse with varying temperatures depending on the season and involves working directly with honeybees; protective gear provided.
- Ability to operate a computer keyboard and telephone.
- Mobility within the facility, including but not limited to, sitting, reaching, standing, walking, and climbing stairs.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
