What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bookkeeper position at Mann Properties Inc.?
The Bookkeeper is responsible to maintain the financial records of Condominium & Homeowners’ Associations. The Bookkeeper maintains the books for the community associations in the company’s portfolio. The Bookkeeper works with the Accounting Manager, Community Association Managers (CAMs), and the management team on financial matters.
The Bookkeeper reports to the Accounting Manager for the following job functions:
- Maintain books for multiple entities under the accrual accounting method.
- Knowledge of dual entry system and accrual systems are preferred.
- Generate financial reports and perform P&L/ Balance Sheet analysis.
- Perform general administrative and accounting duties.
- Process receivables, perform cash applications and generate coupons and statements.
- Process invoices and maintain payables
- Handle Association collections including correspondence to past due clients and coordination with collection attorney.
- Prepare bank reconciliations on a monthly basis
- Prepare journal entries and record in the accounting system
- Produce and reconcile monthly financial statements for community associations
- Assist in other areas of the Accounting department as needed
- Answer homeowner inquiries about their account.
- Full cycle matching, batching, coding invoices.
- Proper general ledger coding (allocating costs to the appropriate areas).
- Verify approval on all invoices and check requests.
- Update and maintain vendor database.
- Reconcile vendor statements.
- Post customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions.
- Post revenues by verifying and entering transactions form lock box and local deposits.
- Research cash receipts, coding and posting of receipts.
- Prepare daily bank deposit.
- Research and apply unallocated cash.
- Organize and maintain up-to-date financial records.
- Provide monthly financial and management reports.
- Assist in financial management and analysis, as requested.
- Resolve valid or authorized deductions by entering adjusting entries.
- Resolve invalid or unauthorized deductions by following pending deductions procedures.
- Resolve collections by examining customer payment plans, payment history; coordinating contact with collections attorney.
- Following up on lien releases.
- Ability to process and follow-up on rush items.
- Maintain account payable files.
- 1099 preparation for CPA.
- Special projects as assigned.

Experience with community association accounting is preferred. Additionally, we are looking for these skills:

Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
