Primary Purpose:

Collaborate with district staff and outside personnel to formulate, develop, implement, and evaluate College, Career and Military Readiness through building a comprehensive K-12 program. 

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

 

Master’s Degree or advanced degree from an accredited university in a related field of study

3-5 years of experience with Higher Education partnerships and collaborations

Administrative and/or Counseling Certification Required

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to organize and coordinate district wide programs and lead systemic change.
  • Understanding of College, Career and Military Readiness programs and models that have proven to be successful as indicated by the Texas College and Career Readiness standards and other national standards for ensuring scholar success.
  • Design strong college entrance exam preparation programs to impact an increase in dual enrollment.
  • Track college entrance exam results to determine the development of advance learning opportunities.
  • Collaborate with counselors and CCMR program staff to develop effective communication systems to parents and school community regarding testing, AP potential, graduation plans, college & career options, early college and dual credit.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with diverse stakeholders including: scholars, school community, community members, business partners, school officials, colleagues.
  • Current research, trends, and evaluation tools in school counseling and college access and readiness.
  • Best practices and current models for serving special populations.
  • Student records best practices and procedures.
  • Data analysis and instructional needs of students, and experience applying this analysis to strategic planning and project implementation.
  • Strong written and oral communications and relational skills.
  • Proficiency with technology tools for productivity and data supporting academic and related student, school, and district-level data.

 

Experience

  • A minimum of three years of district level or school based administrative experience.
  • A minimum of three years of experience of planning, development and implementation of innovative College, Career and Military Readiness programs that lead to high levels of student success.
  • Proven ability to successfully implement college and career readiness programs, ideally in face to face and virtual settings.
  • Successful experience engaging young people and families to participate in programs.
  • Effectively collaborate with other local college and career readiness programs, local social service agencies, and community partners.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop a comprehensive K-12 CCMR program in collaboration with the guidance department, K-12 campus leadership, and the Curriculum & Instruction Division.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling and college readiness program that utilizes peer-reviewed and research-based strategies and activities to increase pK-12 college awareness and preparation for postsecondary success.
  • Effectively use web-based reporting tools to monitor key college access data points including the number of students applying to two and four year colleges; FAFSA completion; college acceptances, and college persistence and completion.
  • Designing and providing professional development, particularly for school counselors.
  • Travel to and from multiple school sites and other work locations.
  • Attend and participate in local, regional and national conferences.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, teachers, parents, and the public.
  • Effectively welcome and embrace differences among staff and community.
  • Design and coordinate experiences for middle and high school students that lead to a deeper understanding of the high school choice process, college fit, financial literacy, and career planning.
  • Focus on and develop programs that increase opportunities for students to enter postsecondary opportunities, including college, career, and the military.
  • Provide oversight, mentoring, and professional development opportunities for school counselors.
  • Ensure the implementation of state guidelines and goals, as well as national standards, for school counseling.
  • Communicating regularly with community partners and parents, keeping them apprised of programmatic efforts and events.
  • Evaluate all college and career readiness initiatives, programs and partnerships for effectiveness through the lens of equity and the needs of each student.
  • Compile budget and cost estimates based on documented program needs.
  • Develop a college entrance exam prep program at the secondary levels.
  • Establish partnerships and relationships with college counselors or equivalents, local college admissions staff, financial aid experts, post-secondary scholarship experts, and career training program staff, among others.
  • Present best practices and findings in Director’s meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Report to work in a timely manner according to assigned schedule.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Equitable Innovation Officer.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise Administrative Assistant, Guidance Counselors, GEAR UP Coordinators, Social Workers as well as any other College and Career Readiness partners.

Regularly sit, talk or hear; frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; frequent repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer; occasionally lift and/or move up to 10-50 pounds; occasionally required to stand, walk reach with hands and arms; vision abilities include close vision; and color vision, regularly work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress; the noise level is usually moderate.  The employee may spend long hours in intense concentration which requires attention to detail.  There are a number of deadlines associated with this position, which may cause significant stress.  The employee must also deal with a wide variety of people on various issues. Predictable and regular attendance expected. 

 

 

 

Salary : $85,353 - $120,320
