Job Summary
Seeking a qualified candidate to join our team as the new Housing Compliance Specialist Manager. This position is in support of our mission to provide affordable housing to seniors in Alaska.
The Housing Specialist plays a critical role in assisting individuals and families in securing safe and affordable housing. This position requires a thorough understanding of housing programs, regulations, and property management practices. The Housing Specialist will work closely with clients to assess their needs, provide support in navigating housing options, and ensure compliance with Fair Housing regulations.
Duties
- Conduct assessments to determine client housing needs and eligibility for various programs, including Section 8 and LIHTC.
- Assist clients in completing applications for housing assistance and coordinate with property management teams.
- Utilize software systems such as OneSite for managing client information and tracking housing placements.
- Educate clients about their rights under Fair Housing regulations and assist them in understanding the housing process.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, services provided, and follow-up actions taken.
Skills
- Must have background and experience in HUD’s Project Based Section 8 Program, as well as Alaska Housing Finance Corporation Tax Credit Program.
- A Certified Occupancy Specialist Certification is highly recommended.
- Knowledge of Fair Housing Compliance and Reasonable Accommodations policy management.
- Two years' experience in basic office programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe and Outlook.
- Familiarity with English composition, rules of spelling, grammar and punctuation and possess ability to compose own correspondence.
- Possess experience with ten-key calculator and related office equipment, including computer, copier and telephone equipment.
- Understand and have compassion for elderly residents and strive for gerontological knowledge.
- Must present self in a manner that enhances the image of the facility in attire, personal hygiene, appearance, manners, personality, language, and so forth.
- Ability to work under pressure and with interruptions.
- Must have reliable transportation; job is 100% on-site.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey information to clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
