What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cook-Part-Time position at Manorhouse Senior Living?
- Consistent and predictable attendance.
- Assist with the daily food preparation as outlined in the weekly menu plan. Support and adhere to the policies, procedures, and provisions of the community's food service programs. Comply with all menus and policies as established by the Dining Services (Dietary) consultant. In the absence of the Director of Dining Services, the cooks acts as the department manager.
- Assist in the preparation and serving of meals in such a manner to ensure that hot foods are served hot and cold foods, cold, and in a consistency to meet individual resident's needs. Serve all foods in an attractive and tasteful manner. Adhere to special diets and ensure special diets are prepared and served to appropriate residents.
- Maintain the kitchen, dining, and food storage areas including, but not limited to, the refrigerators and freezers, in a safe, clean, and orderly condition. Stack, soak, and run dishwasher. Put clean dishes, pots, pans, etc. in appropriate storage place. Protect these areas from possible contamination. Monitor and record food temperatures as well a refrigerator and freezer temperatures to ensure food safety.
- Rotate and store food supplies.
- Become familiar with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all cleaning supplies. Attend training as required.
- Attend training as required as well as complete all Relias training as scheduled.
- Knowledge of principles for providing customer services including assessments of customer needs and meeting quality standards for services.
- Ability to give full attention to what residents are saying, taking time to understand, asking questions as appropriate and not interrupting.
- Knowledge of safe food production techniques and equipment including storage and handling techniques.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Knowledge and understanding of special diet orders such as regular, diabetic, heart-healthy, renal, full liquid, clear liquid, puree, and mechanical ground.
- Must have ability to communicate as per section 22VAC40-73-110.
- Must be considerate and accepting of the aged, frail and disabled person.
- Appropriate attire and good personal hygiene are expected.
- Must comply with and implement all Company Policies and Procedures as well as the Employee Handbook.
- Must support and promote the "Rights and Responsibilities of Residents of Adult Care Residences."
- Must maintain confidentiality with regard to residents, staff, and Company information.
- Must participate in training and in-service programs as required by the Company and/or applicable State's Standards including, but not limited to, OSHA required training, CPR, etc.
- Staff will not accept gratuities from resident, family members, vendors, or visitors.
