The Electrical Test Technician completes work according to instructions, specifications, and procedures. Conducts a variety of tests and verifications on electro and electromechanical equipment while providing accuracy, productivity, and on-time delivery.
Task Overview
Responsible for installing, connecting, testing, monitoring electrical and electronic systems and equipment, including wiring fixtures in test areas, and report fault (training will be done by engineering, coaching for the first couple of weeks).
Once completed, collect test results for Engineering and Quality review.
Help shipping if needed to receive, store and prep units to be sent back at the customer
Responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting, by reading electrical schematics.
Capable of identifying faults using specialized tools like digital multimeters (DMMs) and performing repairs while adhering to the company safety protocols and industry regulations codes.
Key Responsibilities :
Integration and Maintenance : Support test engineering during automated and semi-automated test systems integration by wiring equipment per electrical schematics. Perform routine checks on existing systems to ensure proper functionality and safety. Interpret electrical blueprints and diagrams to diagnose electrical issues, identify faulty components and repair or replace damaged wiring, fixtures or equipment.
Preventive Maintenance : Conduct periodic inspections to identify potential problems before they occur on testing equipment.
Communication : Attend Daily Briefing Meeting and Collaborate with other technicians, engineers and production staff to coordinate project and address electrical concerns. Have good verbal and written skills to provide feedback on issues identified and create detailed reports.
Technical Skills : Comprehensive understanding of electrical systems, circuits, wiring methods. Experience using test & measurement equipment like DMMs. Familiarity with the use of handheld tools like pliers, wire strippers, crimping tools.
Ability to identify and troubleshoot complex electrical systems and attention to detail.
Computer skills (Windows, Outlook, Teams.). Data entry needed.
Physical Requirement : Frequently moves products weighing up to 50 pounds (Mobile crane with hoist will be provided for oversized units).
Job Core Responsibilities
Sets up test equipment and tests per specification
Performs troubleshooting and failure analysis of analog and digital circuitry malfunctions at the component level
Provides detailed written failure description with root cause analysis to production and engineering
Follows written and verbal instructions and adheres to all company guidelines, policies, and procedures
Assists other departments with tasks in other production cells / locations
Maintains a safe and clean work environment, an acceptable safety record, and follows company safety rules
Electronics component-level troubleshooting using schematics for reference
Soldering / de-soldering of SMT components
Test & measurement with standard lab equipment – DMMs, Oscilloscopes, power supplies, temperature chambers, function generators
Ability to devise and conduct tests given higher-level conceptual test plans
Report out test results and present data / measurements
Use various computer software to load & test firmware on embedded devices
Build test circuits (breadboard) for evaluation
Other responsibilities as assigned
Job Specifications
Education : A Secondary Certificate / High School Diploma and relevant work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Certifications : Vocational training, apprenticeships, or the equivalent experience in a related field
Years Experience : min 3 years or more of relevant experience in an engineering department environment
Other : Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
