ManTech's Human Space Flight Support (HSFS) team is integrated with and directly supports the Space Launch Delta Detachment 3 (SLD 45 Det 3) mission of HSFS for all National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) crewed space programs - Soyuz, Artemis and Commercial Crew - across the Planning, Training, Execution, and Sustainment phases of the HSFS mission. Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-orientedAstronaut Rescue & Recovery Specialistto join our team atJohnson Space Center, TX. The candidate shall perform as planning and training advisor in support of the Department of Defense's Human Space Flight Support program.The candidate shall support work on-site at Johnson Space Center, TX and temporary duty locations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Provide subject matter expertise for the world-wide staging, alert, and employment of DoD rescue forces supporting NASA's crewed spacecraft programs. * Draft, coordinate and staff HSFS orders, plans, instructions, concepts of operations, briefing presentations, papers, and reports in support of HSFS planning, training, exercises and mission execution. * Provide support in a mission control or launch center during launch, landing, and search and rescue operations. * Collaborate with mission partners to integrate standard DoD rescue aircraft tactics, techniques and procedures into contingency astronaut rescue operations. * Collaborate with mission partners to develop documents, processes, courseware and plans to train DoD and other government forces on mission-unique astronaut search and rescue procedures in multiple environments. * Collaborate with mission partners to determine interoperability of DoD rescue equipment associated with Artemis and CCP crew modules and associated astronaut personal survival equipment. * Conduct just-in-time crewed program specific search and rescue tactics, techniques, and procedures training to supporting units during staging and alert activities. * Providing command and control recommendations for dedicated and capable rescue forces. Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree required. * 8 years of experience in one of the following areas: * Air Force fixed-wing Rescue Aircraft Commander or Combat Systems Officer (or other service equivalent). * Air Force rotary-wing Rescue two-ship flight lead (or other service equivalent). * Air Force Guardian Angel or Special Tactics (or other service equivalent). * Coast Guard fixed or rotary wing Rescue pilot * Experience in an Air Operations Center, Joint Personnel Recovery Center, Personnel Recovery Coordination Center, or Major Command staff (or other service equivalent). * Possess an expert knowledge of rescue instructions, tactics, techniques and procedures as well as aircraft capabilities and employment. * Ability to work well with and communicate effectively with a diverse group of government and employees, team members and mission partners. * Excellent organizational, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications: * Instructor in any of the above positions. Security Clearance Requirements: * Must have or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance . Physical Requirements: * Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%. * The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. * The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
