To help us do that, we are currently seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator to continue our track record of health and safety operations by developing, implementing, training, and monitoring safety protocols throughout all departments, including our off site log yard and off site manufacturing facility in Wisconsin. You’ll drive the enhancement of a positive and proactive safety culture image through industry knowledge, a high level of communication, and awareness of safe work environments alongside leadership teams.
In this role, you’ll be successful if you are a self-starter and can work on your own with minimal direction in order to monitor work sites and behaviors, perform training sessions, and effectively research state and federal regulations concerning health and safety. Ability to recognize onsite risk factors and take appropriate action with swiftness, firmness and tact is essential.

Some of the specific duties to be performed include:

Practice safe working techniques, review and reinforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company to ensure the facilities are properly meeting these guidelines

Develop, maintain and communicate written safety policies and programs
-
Provide daily guidance and direction in EHS programs at all levels to ensure a common and effective approach through site, plant and PPE walkthroughs and inspections
-
Responsible for assisting in the identification of possible losses; evaluating the risk in such loss exposure; developing and implementing a plan to correct or prevent a loss and audit the plan to ensure its effectiveness

Maintain and update as needed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all safe work practices and equipment; utilizing them in the day-to-day training

Provide advice, assist, and audit line management to ensure that effective EHS is implemented and working
-
Develop, distribute, log, and document tailored safety trainings and utilize varied methods to enhance safety awareness and education
-
Perform and contribute to any training plans by conducting employee orientations, emergency response training, and coordination of other safety programs for the operation, such as Lock-Out Tag-Out.

Schedule, chair, record and communicate minutes for team driven safety committee

Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected

Perform and maintain all environmental testing and regulatory activities in compliance with federal, state, and local laws
-
Perform accident investigations to prepare detailed reports of on-site accidents, identify causes and track corrective actions that need to be taken for future prevention

Review accidents and incidents which occur in the area of responsibility and conduct field audits, reporting and managing the corrective actions

Stays abreast on changes in legislation and safety standards

Maintain a through current knowledge of OSHA, MIOSHA and FMSCA
-
Maintain an organized, up-to-date, safety library to include required SDS documents and job hazard analysis
-
Maintain safety supply stock, working with vendors, and attaining multiple quotes to order safety supplies
-
Organize initiatives and ensure policies and new initiatives are completed and implemented in a timely fashion

Assist with the planning, conducting and maintenance of other various safety training programs and manuals with human resources division.

Supervision of custodial staff (currently two team members)

Education and Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year college or technical school, such as engineering, a hard science, or business.

Five to seven years’ related experience and/or training in the areas of product development and defect root cause analysis and remediation

Knowledge of scientific and engineering processes and procedures
