SUMMARY
This position’s primary function is to drive sales in our regional wholesale/ independent retail and foodservice Accounts. It is the Account Manager’s responsibility to secure all new item placements, to integrate sales initiatives with all departments (Sr. Management, Sales, Marketing, Accounting, IT, etc.) and to work with our Sales Team Members to secure new, profitable business with our products. *** MUST RESIDE IS NORTHERN/CENTRAL VA AREA***
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Regional Account Management – manage & grow existing business, execute approved plans to achieve optimum results consistent with the division’s sales objectives and profit plan, conduct business reviews, and maintain good customer relations at regional and corporate offices of regional retail chains and their field management staff.
- New Business Development – seek out new retail, foodservice & distributor business. Retain a solid business relationship between corporate and regional buyers and field staff.
- Promotion/Trade Funds Management – Effectively manage all co-op dollars and ad allowances for all products, through the direction of the Sales Manager, in the most effective and profitable manner.
- Assist in enforcing Maryland & Virginia’s credit rating and Accounts Receivable policies.
- Coordinate pricing to all assigned accounts through the direction of the Sales Manager.
- Knowledge of Industry – communicate all competitive activity, which affects the company’s volume and ability to effectively merchandise its products, in assigned accounts.
- Sales Analysis/Sales Reporting – utilize existing and future systems tools to perform the job function. Responsible for all sales weekly itineraries and communication of goals and sales objectives for assigned accounts. Provide recap of all sales activities in a formal weekly report to the Sales Manager including category management utilizing fact-based selling skills, and market data to partners at the corporate and/or regional level. This includes leading the sales effort on all schematics.
- Trade Shows – responsible for submitting entry forms, making arrangements for necessary personnel, shipping booth, decorations and samples to show site, setting up and dismantling booth.
- Product Introductions – take product samples to potential customers for the purpose of demonstrating and comparing against competitors’ products.
- Legal – Observe all antitrust laws and implement all pricing in a fair and legal manner.
- Special Projects – handle special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must have at least 5 years of retail sales, food sales or dairy related experience with preference given to those with a B.S. degree in Business or related field.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Highly proficient communicator (oral and written) with the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to convert units of measurement.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license.

The employee is occasionally exposed to cool or freezing temperatures when working in the cooler or freezer at a customer’s location.
