The Data Governance - Senior Program Manager plays a key role in enabling data governance excellence across the MAPFRE organization. Reporting to the Data Governance Director, the Senior Program Manager will lead programs, mentor data owner/stewards and implement policies and processes that improve data integrity and decision making for MAPFRE.
Responsibilities:
- Lead initiatives that deliver improvements to the end-to-end data lifecycle – across data definition, ingestion, processing, access, data quality, analytics, compliance, policy retention and data destruction.
- Create and contribute to actionable data governance policies and standards applicable to the organization across and within functional domains.
- Mentor several functional domains - data owners, stewards and custodians on their roles and responsibilities within the data governance framework.
- Act as a data governance expert in the review of data sourcing, usage and control requirements associated with complex business and technology projects. Assess solution suitability, identify concerns, and put forth adjustments where appropriate.
- Act a as a point of escalation for governance, data quality and protection issues.
- Recommend improvements to data management policies, procedures, and infrastructure based on research and best practices and ensure alignment with Corporate Data Governance protocols.
- Ability to interact with all levels of employees in response to data needs including correspondence, documentation, requirements, control design, etc.
- Candidate should be willing and able to proactively dig deep and find opportunities and recommendations for data improvements. Should be able to influence key business stakeholders with data-driven insights.
- Self-Starter – Should be able to work independently, gathering appropriate knowledge, resources and escalating when necessary. Should proactively seek training and learning opportunities to grow skill set.
- Strong Communicator – Will facilitate meetings and interact with IS and business partners at all levels. Strong business acumen and communication skills (verbal and written) is a must. Should be able to tell a “story” about our data.
- Strong Lead – Will inspire and mature the data governance roles within the organization.
- Collaborative Team Player – Will champion agile best practices and foster collaboration opportunities across business and technical stakeholders to help inject data governance across the organization.
- Critical Thinker - Should be detail-oriented and have strong business analysis skills.
- Bachelor's Degree or professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, or equivalent, related experience.
- 6 - 8 years - or Associates Degree equivalent plus 6 or more years.
- Experience performing data governance activities such as data cataloging, data quality profiling and writing governance policies, processes, and procedures. Ability to uncover and understand data governance challenges and develop best practices for metadata, data quality, and data stewardship.
- Ability to create and present information that is audience appropriate is necessary.
- Prior experience working with property and casualty insurance data preferred
- Working knowledge of data query, visualization and management tools and platforms such as SQL, Power BI, Snowflake, Collibra, SharePoint a plus.
- Prior experience with Amazon AWS data capabilities a plus.
