What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dock worker 2nd shift position at Maple Donuts?
GENERAL DUTIES
· To manually or by hand truck or fork lift / electric hand truck pull orders accurately and load into assigned trailer / truck for prompt shipment.
· May assist in production department as needed.
· May jockey trailers in yard (after proper training is received)
· May make deliveries to retail locations.
· Assists in warehouse maintenance.
· Valid fork lift operator’s license.
· Must be dependable, reliable, and mature enough to handle equipment safely and sensibly.
· May assist in production or transportation departments as needed.
KEY DUTIES
1. Verifies quantity, quality, labeling of all items ready for shipment. Sorts items as necessary.
2. Counts and examines packaging and contents of packages for conformance to company specifications. Returns inadequate / deficient items to bakery.
3. Compares items received from bakery to customer’s order sheets. Loads correct items into assigned trailer. Initials order sheets thus verifying items are correct and loaded.
4. Loads orders in correct sequence of delivery schedule.
5. Secures load by blocking in with empties and load lock bars. Ensures no damaged product in transit.
6. Places order sheets in respective envelope and returns to driver / delivery board.
7. Unloads empty trays and racks from trailers prior to loading. Stores neatly in designated areas.
8. Returns all equipment (hand trucks, hand jacks, electric hand truck and fork lift) to designated area at the end of shift. Place equipment on charge if required.
9. Keeps loading dock area clean and free of debris at all times. Sweep floors daily; remove all broken crates and pallets to trash compactor.
10. Store all dollies in designated area.
11. Report any delays to delivery schedule to transportation manager.
12. Keeps all dock doors closed when not in use.
13. Perform any and all other duties that may be assigned by Transportation Manager.
