Coal Loader
This is a skilled position in the operation of heavy surface mining equipment. The employee in this classification is responsible for the safe efficient operation of large end loaders used to load coal into an overland conveyor belt feeder. The material is scooped up to adjacent raw coal stockpiles and generally includes the operation of the endloader in a coal put or stock pile situation. The job may include the exact removal of this layers of rock or other foreign material from the top of the coal seam. It also, includes the removal of coal without contaminating the coal with rock or debris from the beneath seam. This work is performed in accordance with instructions given by a supervisor, and the employee is expected to carry out the assignments, free of direct supervision. The employee is responsible for the constant monitoring of the endloader for existing or developing defects which could affect safety or productivity and for reporting any defects or work area hazards in a timely manner to a supervisor.
Accountabilities:
- Operates endloader to break up, pile and load coal into haulage trucks.
- Inspects the endloader for safety and operation defects.
- Completes written equipment component checklist report of inspection.
- Operates endloader to separate foreign material from over or seam of binders within the coal or separates coal frim material under the coal seam.
- Operates steering wheel, foot brake, accelerator pedal, shift lever, hoist, dump and other levers, knobs and switches located inside the cab of the loader.
- Drives endloader up and down grades and roads, negotiates curves in a forward or reverse direction.
- Moves cables, junction boxes, outhouses, cable crossover structures, left parts and components of equipment, clears slides from roads and puts and other duties as directed.
- May assist other employees or perform other duties when an endloader is not needed.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Thorough operation knowledge an skills necessary to operate specific equipment.
- Ability to operator assigned equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ability to detect faults or impending faults in the specific equipment and report such findings in a timely manner.
- Ability to maneuver vehicle in crowded areas.
- Ability to safely mount and dismount equipment in all weather conditions.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions as well as read directional and warning signs.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds on a regular basis without sustaining injury.
Requirements:
- Experience in the classification of coal endloader operator utilizing a 12 cubic yard or larger bucket.
- Experienced operating D8T Dozer.
