DRILL OPERATOR
SUMMARY:
Multi-skilled position that safely operates surface equipment: dozer, grader, haul truck, shovel and/or drill, preparatory to construction, roads, clearing, pre-stripping and overburden removal. Operates within safety guidelines to achieve and maintain corporate S-1 status.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

- Report on time as scheduled and assigned
- Perform assigned duties safely and competently
- Care for yourself, fellow employees and the property of the company in a responsible and safe manner
- Wear appropriate safety apparel
- Operate mobile equipment in safe manner following S-1 and training guidelines
- Connect hydraulic hoses, bolts, mechanical linkages or power takeoff.
- Perform minor repairs on equipment using grease gun, oil can, or hand tools
- Work to close tolerances to specific grade following markings, grade stakes or hand signals
- Meet or exceed production standards
- Perform pre-shift and maintain oil and fluid levels
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety information.

Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations:
add, subtract, multiply and divide.
REASONING ABILITY:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATIONAL AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Surface Miner Certificate plus 7-10 years experience on 3 or more pieces of mobile equipment
Re: Truck, Bulldozer, Drill, Motor Grader, Shovel
DAILY / SHIFT TASKS:
- Examine the work area often during the shift to maintain a safe work environment
- Examine equipment prior to operation
- Maintain a good running overface for trucks
- Clean highwalls
- Efficiently load overburden
- Maintain quality of the coal seam
- Control flow of overburden to the point of discharge
- Practice good housekeeping, keeping work area and cab clean
- Meet and exceed production standards
- Shovel as required
- Document and report all mechanical problems
- Document and report oil changes
- Make periodic examination of gauges, maintaining appropriate oil levels, etc
- Maintain communication with operating personnel to insure productivity and safety
- Perform minor repairs
