What are the responsibilities and job description for the Directional Drill Operator position at Superior Pocahontas LLC?
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain directional drilling equipment to install underground utilities.
- Perform utility locates and read prints/maps to ensure safe drilling operations.
- Monitor bore paths and adjust as needed to avoid underground obstacles.
- Load, unload, and organize tools, materials, and equipment.
- Ensure all work meets industry safety standards and company guidelines.
- Work closely with the crew leader and laborers to complete tasks efficiently.
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on drilling equipment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience operating a directional drill and/or working as a locator.
- Familiarity with Ditch Witch drilling equipment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret utility maps and locate prints.
- Strong knowledge of underground utility construction and safety procedures.
- Physically capable of performing labor-intensive tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Reliable and punctual with strong teamwork skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from work yard
- Willingness to travel out of town
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime
- Weekends as needed
- Year round work
