What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Labor Holding House- 3rd shift position at Maple Leaf Farms?
- Support Holding House Supervisors in the direction and scheduling of staff to daily tasks, monitor specification attainment, alert Supervisors of deviations in efficiency, quality and safety, and take corrective action as required.
- Move ducks in accordance with Duck Well being guidelines relative to density and weather constraints.
- Employee will ensure that Market Age Duck trucks and trailers are cleaned and disinfected to standard. Employee will communicate to the HH Supervisors any irregularities observed in the truck wash, such as issues with pressure washers, water lines, washing and sanitizing equipment, drains, etc.
- Communicate to Supervisors any irregularities observed in the holding house such as feed motors, water lines, exhaust fans, jet fans, etc.
- Ensure operating equipment (skid loader, tractors, trailers etc.) is periodically inspected, cleaned and referred for maintenance as needed. Perform preventative maintenance as needed on Holding House equipment. Perform minor repairs as required.
- Train Holding House staff and Market Age Duck Drivers to adhere to the Duck Care and Handling Guidelines to which they are certified and re-certified on an annual basis. To include the proper handling of fatigued ducks and the use of totes and carts.
- Assist Holding House Supervisors with advancing HH staff through the Labor Grade Training Program.
- Coordinate the washing of Market Age Duck Trucks and Trailers.
- Update and maintain records.
- Communicate effectively along lines of the chain of command, as well as with the Processing Plant Managers and Supervisors.
- Assist Holding House Supervisors with safety meetings, disciplinary action & other supervisory tasks as needed.
- Ensure that all Duck Well Being and Safety policies are consistently adhered to.
- Perform 2nd or 3rd shift lead duties when necessary.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Job Specifications:
Supervisory experience is beneficial. Must be certified through full facial respirator use, and re-certified on an annual basis. Position requires the ability to lift 50 lbs.
Employee must be self-reliable and independent with ability to perform tasks without supervisor present. Graduate of Labor Grade 1 or equivalent experience.
Skills And Abilities:
- Knowledge of established standard operating procedures and company policies.
- Ability to train staff on safety policies, DWB guidelines and biosecurity policies.
- Operate equipment, such as tractors, bobcats, and trucks.
- Work effectively with others; communicate along all levels and direct staff as required.
