Summary
As part of the Customer Success organization, the Geomatics and Geotechnical Engineer plays a key role in supporting the LAER (Land, Adopt, Expand, Renew) organization by driving presales and post-sales activities for geomatics and geotechnical products and services. This role involves conducting technical analyses of client needs and data, translating insights into compelling technical presentations, and delivering impactful product demonstrations. Additionally, the engineer will oversee system implementations and ongoing customer support, ensuring successful adoption and optimal use of Maptek solutions. Building and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing clients is a critical aspect of this role. The ideal candidate will have experience in laser scanning, slope deformation & convergence monitoring, and surveying within the mining industry.
Essential Functions
- Leverage technical expertise to create compelling demonstrations of Maptek products and services, with a focus on Geomatics and Geotechnical solutions and related applications.
- Lead technical discussions with customer and prospect teams to accurately assess needs and requirements.
- Proactively identify new business opportunities and transfer high-potential leads to the sales team.
- Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations tailored to client needs, based on thorough data analysis. These presentations may be conducted remotely but will primarily take place on-site at mines or customer offices.
- Provide support, implementation, training, and consulting for Sentry and related solutions, primarily for North American clients.
- Process field-scanning data into client-friendly formats that meet specified requirements.
- Collaborate with Land and Expand teams to progress leads into opportunities and successfully close business.
- Work closely with the LAER team to ensure smooth transitions from sales to implementation.
- Maintain accurate records of all activities in the CRM system.
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to drive engagement and long-term success.
- Continuously expand product knowledge and apply sales techniques to maximize client benefits.
- Contribute to strategic planning, working alongside the Sales Team to develop and refine tactical approaches.
- Gather customer feedback and provide engineers and software developers with insights for potential product enhancements.
- Promote cross-departmental collaboration by fostering teamwork and strong internal relationships.
- Travel up to 50% of the time, primarily in North America.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree required; a degree in Geotechnical or Geological Engineering is preferred.
- Technical expertise in laser scanners, with a strong preference for experience in mining applications, including slope deformation and convergence monitoring.
- Proficiency in traditional survey equipment and geospatial measurement techniques.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex situations and unexpected challenges independently and effectively.
- Excellent public speaking and presentation abilities, with experience delivering technical demonstrations.
- Experience in technical sales is preferred.
- Collaborative mindset, with a willingness to work in a team-driven sales environment as a client-facing technical resource.
- Exceptional technical presentation skills, able to convey complex concepts clearly and persuasively.
- Experience with CRM systems is highly desirable.
- Mining industry experience is preferred; radar monitoring experience is a plus.
- Fluency in English and French (written and spoken) is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and reading comprehension.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and organizational levels.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and general office equipment.
- Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to competing demands.
- Excellent active listening skills, ensuring clear understanding of client needs.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to tow a trailer is required.
- Basic mechanical abilities are highly desirable.

Summary of compensation and benefits:
Base Salary: USD $ 75,000 - $ 85,000 Commissions
Annual bonus potential based on the region's profitability
