Analysts will also share responsibilities for monitoring of crude quality data with an eye on identifying change that impact refining value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assumes leadership role in developing Crude Quality sampling plan, including but not limited to: determining optimal sample locations, evaluating 3rd party lab testing locations, scheduling sample collection and transportation.
- Review 3rd party lab reports and approve or reject them for inclusion in the PQ Core crude sample database
- Respond to suspected crude quality incidents at refineries by collecting samples and expediting special test slates as needed.
- Participate in industry Crude Quality associations with an eye on trends that could impact MPC’s crude slate
- Hosts periodic meetings with refineries planning personnel for assay vs QM assurance
- Acquires, cleans and preprocesses raw data from various sources to ensure accuracy and reliability; maintains knowledge of key systems and queries those systems for data.
- Conducts in-depth analysis of large datasets to extract meaningful insights and trends
- Develops and implements analytical models to forecast future trends and outcomes
- Develops and performs statistical analysis to identify patterns and correlations in the data
- Creates visually compelling and easy-to-understand dashboards and reports
- Communicates findings to stakeholders through charts, graphs, and presentations
- Ensures integrity and quality of data through regular audits and validation processes
- Works closely with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver insights
- Drive continuous improvement and defect elimination in organization using data insights
- Establishes and supports data governance to ensure data is fit for optimum use by the organization
- Partners and leads initiatives to build sustainable data pipelines, automations, and advanced analytics solutions
Crude Quality Data Analyst
- Bachelor’s degree required; Chemistry major preferred
- Two (2) years experience required
- Strong communication and organizational skills are required.
- Lab experience or knowledge of lab methodology is preferred.
- Experience with Tableau or Power BI database visualization tools is a plus.
- Any prior experience or knowledge of crude supply systems, optimization, or scheduling is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Chemistry major preferred
- Four (4) years experience required
- Strong communication and organizational skills are required.
