Job Title: Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
Location: Farmville, VA
Marathon TS is seeking a dedicated and experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our client's healthcare team working in a detention setting with federal detainees. The APP will provide comprehensive healthcare services, ensuring the delivery of evidence-based medical care in compliance with federal and state regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical histories, physical exams, and diagnostic evaluations for federal detainees.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians, focusing on acute, chronic, and preventive care needs.
- Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with Virginia state laws and facility protocols.
- Perform minor medical procedures as appropriate within the scope of practice.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including lab work and imaging studies.
- Provide patient education on health, wellness, and disease prevention, with cultural sensitivity.
- Work collaboratively with detention facility staff and federal authorities to maintain the highest standards of care.
- Accurately document patient care activities in electronic medical records (EMR), ensuring compliance with regulatory and facility standards.
- Participate in facility audits, quality improvement initiatives, and case reviews.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the unique medical and behavioral needs within a detention environment.
Qualifications
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
- Current, unrestricted NP or PA license in the state of Virginia (required).
- Board certification in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or another relevant specialty.
- DEA registration and prescriptive authority in Virginia.
- No experience necessary, 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in correctional, detention, or underserved settings preferred.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Strong clinical decision-making, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Dedication to providing culturally competent, patient-centered care in a secure environment.
Preferred Skills * Bilingual in Spanish (strongly preferred). * Familiarity with correctional or detention medical care protocols and standards. * Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
