Please note that this is a grant-funded, non-contract position. Continuation of employment in this capacity is strictly contingent upon satisfactory performance and continuation of grant funding. Funds for this position are expected to be available thru the 2027-2028 school year
Primary Purpose: Develop, implement, and coordinate an extended day program at a specific community learning center. Community Learning Centers are housed at elementary, middle school, and high school sites.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in education, social services, recreation, or related field
Master’s degree preferred
Teaching certification preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of principles and practice of developmentally appropriate academic, enrichment, and recreational programs
Effective organizational, communication, computer, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work extended hours
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Experience leading and managing teams
Ability to maintain positive working relationships with staff, parents, students, community, and school administration
Bilingual preferred
Experience:
Two years experience working with youth programs preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Operations
1. Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to develop a comprehensive program plan that is aligned with the goals and objectives of the CCLC grant.
2. Ensure that the program meets the academic, social, and emotional needs of the students
3. Ensure compliance with the requirements and guidelines set forth by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the U.S. Department of Education.
4. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the community learning center.
5. Ensure program activities are implemented effectively, student attendance is tracked, and student progress is monitored.
6. Assist with the coordination of transportation, meals, and other logistical items.
Policy, Reports, and Law
7. Implement federal and state law and board policy
8. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
9. Maintain accurate records.
10. Collect data on program outcomes and evaluate the effectiveness of program activities.
11. Use data to make informed decisions, identify areas for improvement, and report on program impact to TEA and other stakeholders.
Budget and Inventory
12. Adhere to the financial and programmatic guidelines outlined in the grant.
13. Develop and administer budget based on documented needs and ensure operations are cost-effective and funds are managed prudently.
14. Develop and implement inventory and stock control program for equipment and supplies and recommend replacement and disposal of obsolete equipment as necessary.
Professional Growth and Development
15. Oversee the training and professional development of all program staff.
16. Attend professional development seminars to maintain an understanding of the current best practices of curriculum and administrative functions of child development programs.
School or Community Relations
17. Foster partnerships and collaborations with schools, community organizations, parents, and other stakeholders. Engage with community leaders, organizations, and agencies to promote the program, seek resources, and explore collaborative opportunities.
18. Engage in regular communication and collaboration to align program goals with the broader community needs and resources.
19. Organize family events, workshops, and other activities to involve parents and caregivers in their child’s education.
20. Establish systems for communication and feedback to build strong relationships with families.
21. Interact with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds with sensitivity and fairness.
Personnel Management
22. Select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and make recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.
23. Provide ongoing support and professional development opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of the program staff.
Safety
24. Ensure measures are in place and operating to protect students, staff, supplies, and equipment.
25. Maintain safety standards conforming with federal, state, and insurance regulations and develop a program of preventive safety.
26. Implement and follow district safety protocols and emergency protocols.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise, evaluate, and recommend the hiring and firing of staff
