We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to oversee and manage daily operations of our Liquid Waste Division that includes liquid waste and fence services in all locations to ensure smooth operation and maintain high standards of service and safety. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a proven track record in managing teams, improving processes, and achieving business objectives. where you will mentor, train and coach the team, strategic thinking, and operational expertise.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
Operations Management
- Lead and manage the Liquid Waste Division (Fence and Liquid Waste services) to ensure effective communication and coordination between teams, internal/external stakeholders such as customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
- Manage Supervisors to ensure smooth operations across service, call center, and routing, installation teams, including scheduling, maintenance, and delivery.
- Manage staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and efficient utilization of resources.
- This role will require frequent travel to remote locations consistently to provide leadership support and maintain communication.
- Developing and implementing emergency response plans to address unforeseen issues such as equipment breakdowns, staff injuries, or environmental emergencies.
- Provide solutions to operational challenges both on-site and with customers.
- Leads verbal and written disciplinary actions as necessary to ensure fair and consistent enforcement of company policies.
- Develops and maintains written operating procedures.
- Identify new business opportunities for services and acquiring new contracts.
- Strategize with executive management to develop a long-term business plan for consolidating operations that will efficiently service all areas and improve productivity.
- Demonstrates initiative in achieving departmental goals and communicates effectively with the President in order to ensure goals and objectives are being met.
- Develop pricing strategies to attract new customers and retain existing ones.
- Responsible for overseeing the FOG system.
- Responsible for ensuring contractor license is valid to provide the Fence services.
- Monitor department expenses to ensure that resources are allocated effectively and expenses are controlled.
- Leverage software to analyze and report data to assess performance, identify bottlenecks, and improve processes.
- Prepare monthly reports for senior management on operations, financials, and growth metrics.
- Address any operational challenges with proactive solutions, for improvement and optimization (routes, saving time, fuel).
Staff Management
· Organize and oversee the schedules and work of assigned staff.
- Lead training and coaching to maintain high performance standards.
- Conducts performance assessments that are timely and constructive.
- Collaborate with Supervisors to streamline the services and manage workflow in fence and liquid waste services.
- Identifies the developmental needs of employees in the department and coaches, mentors, trains, or otherwise helps others to improve their knowledge or skills.
- Manages performance of assigned direct reports, conducts employee performance assessments, recognize accomplishments, properly documents corrective action, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary actions, and salary adjustments.
- Handles discipline of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to ensure that all team members are informed about operational changes, safety protocols, and customer service expectations.

Route Management
- Manage the company's fleet of trucks and other vehicles for transporting and servicing of sanitation equipment.
- Ensure that vehicles are properly maintained, inspected, and serviced regularly.
- Optimize routes to improve service and delivery efficiency.
- Track and report key performance indicators such as fleet utilization, service delivery times, and cost per job.
- Ensure technology is utilized to help streamline operations and improve efficiency.
Maintenance & Equipment Management
- Responsible for overseeing the maintenance and management of the pre-treatment plant working closely with Yard Supervisor and consultants to satisfy regulatory reporting compliance.
- Oversee the preventive maintenance schedule to reduce equipment downtime and extend machinery life for the pre-treatment plant.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies that will reduce costs and improve pre-treatment plant performance.
Customer Service and Relations:
- Oversee customer satisfaction by ensuring timely, clean, well-maintained equipment is provided.
- Develop and manage processes and procedures for Customer Service Representatives to facilitate effectiveness and efficiency for the Liquid Waste Division for Fence and liquid waste services.
- Addresses complaints concerning billing or service rendered, referring complaints of service failures to designated personnel for investigation.
- Audit to ensure monthly billing is processed accurately and timely.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met consistently.
- Partner with other departments to resolve customer service and other issues. Ensure set-up errors and missed pickups are reported and resolved.
- Build and maintain relationships with key clients such as City of Santa Barbara and all other plants & facilities where we deliver liquid waste material.
Inventory Management
- Monitor and manage the inventory of portable restroom, fencing and sanitation equipment, cleaning supplies, and related materials.
- Ensure the timely ordering and stocking of necessary products and supplies
- Work with vendors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing and quality service.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including those related to sanitation, health and safety, and environmental impact.
- Oversee and assist in environmental audits.
- Conduct Root Cause Investigations for all injuries and incidents, ensuring consistent discipline and retraining.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, both for employees and customers, including proper disposal procedures and sanitation standards.

Technology Utilization:
- Utilize dispatching and Soft Pak software and other technologies to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred.
- 10 years in operations management, with at least 15 years in a leadership role within the sanitation or related service industry.
- Experience in managing a team and overseeing day-to-day operational activities.
