Summary Of Position

An experienced, well rounded, hospitality driven workplace champion and leader who is committed to cultivating a solid foundation of culture, driving elevated levels performance, fosters community, embraces development, and drives success. Assists to oversee the P&C function and has a tremendous impact on our organizational excellence. Responsible for coordinating and executing employee relations events to promote the Marc & Rose Hospitality culture for all associates. Manage benefits for new hires, as well as current associates. Coordinates the resort’s quality initiatives and follows through with results, to meet and exceed external and internal guest expectations. Collaborate with the Director of P&C on all associate relation matters which include investigations to ensure that all matters are managed fairly, consistently, and timely. Works closely with the Director of P&C in all aspects of the department of P&C to ensure that associates have a well-rounded associate experience and to continue to grow, cultivate and promote a healthy and vibrant workplace and culture. Along with the Director of P&C, is responsible for the Arizona Grand Resort & Spa, on behalf of Marc & Rose Hospitality. Reports directly to the Director of P & C with a "dotted line" to the Corporate Director of People & Culture.

Essential Functions

  • Functions as one of our main recruiting liaisons by creating partnerships with colleges, community leaders and organizations in the Phoenix metropolitan area to continue to increase hiring opportunities for all open positions.
  • Assists in navigating associate relations issues, coaching and counseling matters, drives, and conducts performance evaluations and hourly reviews, proactively manages associate concerns and problems, nurtures, and welcomes open communication, capable of handling discipline concerns and conducts separations as deemed appropriate.
  • Investigating and resolving complex or critical associate relations issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • One of the point of contacts for associate relations matters including questions of policy, performance management, and associate concerns or complaints.
  • Provides ongoing training, support, mentoring, and guidance for the People & Culture Team.
  • Along with the Director of P&C, ensures that P&C team members continue to be responsible for duties as assigned in their job descriptions and that all matters are managed timely.
  • Assists the Director of P&C in managing the resort’s recognition program (for hourly and salaried team members) including monthly/quarterly associate recognition and quarterly management recognition. This includes finding new and creative ways to recognize associates.
  • Works alongside the Director of P&C to organize a yearly calendar of events to recognize associates throughout the year.
  • Assists with special projects, events and activities relating to the property and relating to our team members, i.e., flu shot clinic, blood drives, health fairs, annual open enrollment meetings, team member luncheons and parties, volunteer opportunities, recognition programs, etc.
  • Actively participates in all P&C functions/meetings/training opportunities and hotel functions/meetings as required by the Director of P&C and the VP of P&C.
  • Assists in facilitating training, mentoring the P&C Team, building on what is already established and working well in P&C and resort wide.
  • Drives initiatives at the resort to engage and inspire associates and leaders in accordance with the operational needs, policies, procedures, while limiting liabilities and promoting a safe, fair, positive work environment.
  • Assists in the creation and makes recommendations regarding recruitment, training, culture, recognition programs, benefits, compensation, and other objectives.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of associate records, files, work authorization documents, legal documents, certifications, and office systems.
  • Able to create and analyze various reports to provide management with accurate information.
  • Assists in overseeing all associate relation matters as they relate to employment laws, at the state and federal level.
  • Partners with, leads, and mentors the People & Culture Team to create a cohesive and strong department and build the P&C bench for future development; also collaborates closely with sister properties P&C teams and leaders.
  • Drives the Arizona Grand Resort & Spa and Marc & Rose Hospitality culture and standards of conduct as set forth in resort communications and set forth by our company.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Corporate Director of P&C, the VP of P&C, and the Resort General Manager.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree highly preferred; Ability to communicate both verbally and written in both English and Spanish.

Experience: Minimum of four (4) years human resource/training experience/managing experience required. Experience in human resources recruiting/training at a luxury hotel/resort preferred.

Certificates or Licenses: HR related courses/classes/certifications preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Knowledge of state and federal labor laws.
  • Knowledge of employee benefit administration.
  • Computer savvy/skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and other ancillary systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to champion the culture and leadership of the resort and the company.
  • Perform job functions with mindfulness, speed, and accuracy under the pressure of challenging situations.
  • Enforce resort's standards, policies, and procedures with all associates.
  • Be a critical thinker, remain calm and resolve problems using good sound judgment.
  • Understand the role of leadership, workplace excellence and guest’s service needs; with the ability and passion to speak to and train as needed to these topics and more.
  • Work without direct supervision/demonstrate initiative.
  • Maintain confidentiality of internal and external guest information and pertinent resort data.
  • Participate in EEO-1 reporting, unemployment claims/management/hearings, wage & hour matters, work comp enforcement and training, OSHA, ADA, and ACA. Implement policies and programs to guarantee compliance.
  • General oversight of recruitment, screening, reference checking and associate offers of employment for all levels of staffing.
  • Monitor and analyze employment statistics.
  • Ensure managers are using coaching, counseling and discipline or performance improvement plans to address issues/concerns.
