The Benefits and Compensation Specialist is responsible for administering, analyzing and implementing the organization’s benefits and compensation programs. This role ensures that practices are competitive, equitable, and aligned with the company’s objectives. This role will gather data, perform analysis, and execute on benefits and compensation strategies to attract, retain and motivate employees.

- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans and other voluntary benefits.
- Provides support, guidance and education to employees and managers on benefits and compensation throughout the year and confirms data integrity in HRIS and benefit systems.
- Support the administration of annual benefit open enrollment and merit processes.
- Acts as a liaison between the organization/employees and third-party benefit providers.
- Protect company values by maintaining confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulation, and ensuring private information is stored properly and securely.
- Process and manage leave of absence requests, including worker’s compensation claims, in accordance with established company policies and legal requirements.
- Coordinate with Human Resources, managers, payroll and employees to ensure smooth transitions and accurate benefits continuation during leaves.
- Evaluates the organization’s jobs, documenting responsibilities and requirements in job descriptions.
- Conducts market analysis of company jobs to determine competitive positioning of the organization’s pay programs.
- Conduct market research to ensure the company’s compensation and benefits are competitive.
- Support annual Engagement Survey initiative/project.
- Process and manage files for auto accident incidents in coordination with the employee, insurance carrier and Fleet Manager.
- Process and manage files for DOT and NAID compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience in a benefits or compensation role preferred.
- Previous HRIS experience, preferably with ADP preferred.
- Knowledgeable in state and federal government regulations.
- Knowledgeable about various benefits and/or compensation program management.
- Critical and creative thinking skills to assess and resolve problems or issues by gathering and assessing information, taking advice, and using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, or law.
- Strong organizational skills to plan, prioritize, multi-task and independently execute projects/tasks within specific deadlines while maintaining flexibility.
- Ability to work under high stress levels, with frequent interruptions and with tight and often changing deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills as demonstrated by the ability to articulate complex information and issues clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrates a strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships.
