What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front Desk Specialist- Primary Care position at Marcos Medical Care?
Marcos Medical Care is an established and busy primary care practice looking for an experienced Patient Care Coordinator. The right candidate must have prior experience working in an Internal Medicine or Family Practice clinic.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors, in person and on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries in a quick, friendly and professional manner.
- Scans and files a current patient's insurance card and driver's license, along with other documents and records for the patient.
- Optimizes patients’ satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain a clean and organized front desk area and patient lobby.
- Maintains patients' accounts by obtaining and updating existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information including personal and financial information.
- Collects any outstanding balances, co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance and previous balances as needed. Posts charges and collections into the computer system. Closes and posts batches at the end of each day.
- Explain to patients the coverage amounts provided by their insurance policy so they can understand why some procedures may be covered, while others are not.
- Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGED REQUIRES:
- 1 year of previous experience as a Patient Care Coordinator in a primary care practice setting
- 1 year of experience using Athena EMR software
- 1 year experience with verifying insurance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in using phone systems and computer software
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Friendly and welcoming demeanor is a plus!
