Job Description
The Spray Technician is responsible for monitoring the health of plants in our greenhouses and nursery grounds and applying treatments to prevent and manage pests and diseases. This role involves routine plant inspections, identifying potential threats, and ensuring that all pesticide and fungicide applications follow safety regulations and best practices. Ideal candidates have strong attention to detail, a proactive approach to plant care, and a commitment to safety and environmental responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Plant Health Monitoring: Regularly inspect greenhouse and nursery plants for signs of pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies.
- Application of Treatments: Safely apply pesticides, fungicides, and other plant treatments as needed to maintain plant health.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate application logs, including chemicals used, application dates, and treatment effectiveness.
- Compliance & Safety: Follow all federal, state, and local regulations regarding pesticide use, handling, and disposal. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Equipment Maintenance: Properly calibrate, clean, and maintain spray equipment for effective and safe operation.
- Environmental Stewardship: Use integrated pest management (IPM) strategies to minimize chemical use.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with greenhouse staff, nursery managers, and sales associates to maintain plant health.
- Training Completion: Participate in required training sessions, including Pesticide Safety, Disease Identification, Pest Identification, and Proper Application Techniques.

Qualifications
- Prior experience in plant care, horticulture, or pesticide application preferred
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required pesticide applicator licenses or certifications
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify plant health issues
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and perform physically demanding tasks
- Knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM) principles is a plus
