The Host is the first point of contact for guests and plays a crucial role in creating a welcoming and organized dining experience. They are responsible for greeting guests, managing reservations, seating guests efficiently, and ensuring smooth communication between the front-of-house and back-of-house teams.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Relations:
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival and ensure they feel welcome.
- Manage waitlists and provide accurate wait time estimates.
- Escort guests to their tables and present menus.
- Handle guest inquiries, reservations, and special requests professionally.
- Communicate with guests about any delays or accommodations needed.
Reservation & Seating Management:
- Manage the reservation system and maintain an organized seating chart.
- Balance seating assignments to optimize server efficiency and guest satisfaction.
- Monitor table turnover and ensure smooth transitions between parties.
- Assist with walk-ins and coordinate seating based on availability.
Coordination & Communication:
- Act as a liaison between guests, servers, and management.
- Communicate special requests, VIP guests, or dietary restrictions to the appropriate staff.
- Support service flow by updating staff on table status and availability.
General Duties:
- Maintain a clean and organized front desk, entrance, and waiting area.
- Assist with answering phone calls and handling to-go orders if required.
- Uphold restaurant standards for hospitality, professionalism, and service.
- Support team members during peak service periods as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- Familiarity with reservation systems (e.g., OpenTable) is a plus.
- Previous hospitality or customer service experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Occasionally lift and carry light items (e.g., menus, chairs).
