Housekeeping Supervisor - Margaritaville Resort Biloxi

Description

The housekeeping supervisor maintains assigned areas in a clean, sanitary, safe, orderly and attractive manner in accordance with established procedures and as directed by Housekeeping Manager; assures that the highest degree of cleanliness and sanitation is maintained at all times. This position provides leadership and oversight to the Housekeeping Team, as well as responds to guest housekeeping concerns.

Qualifications

1. Clean bathtub, toilet, sink, walls, mirrors, tiles, counters, and floor surfaces using cloths, mops sponges, brushes, and/or cleaning agents by extending arms over head, bending and stooping.
2. Strip and make beds, changing bed linens which may require lifting bedspreads weighing a maximum of 40 lbs. with a total number of 16 rooms cleaned per each full-time shift (averages 30 minutes per each guestroom).
3. Must respond quickly and efficiently to all guest requests.
4. Makes up rollaway beds and cribs in a vacated room and notifies house attendants for them to be properly stored.
5. Properly use, keep secure and return the pass key or section master to the Housekeeper at the end of every shift. Keep masters on person at all times.
6. Keep linen closet and service landings secure.
7. Dust all furniture, pictures, drawers, window ledges, and shelves thoroughly.
8. Push and pull vacuum throughout entire room and empty trash.
9. Replenish amenities, linens, and supplies in guest room.
10. Practices chemical safety rules and follows procedures for needles and other hazardous materials.
11. Sign for room keys, retrieve, push to assigned rooms and restock heavy cart. Visually inspect room for cleanliness and appearance and signify completion for room.

1. The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
2. Ability to push and/or pull equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.
3. Ability to scrub and scour surfaces, extending arms overhead to perform cleaning tasks, and work in confined spaces.
4. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees, as well as guests.
5. Ability to give and follow instructions, directions, and meet deadlines, including the thorough cleaning of a minimum of 12-16 rooms as specified by management.
6. Basic ability to comprehend English language sufficient to understand information such as labels and instructions and basic guest requests.
7. Other Duties as required or assigned.

Employees must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving of instructions: (a) can get along with co- workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes and (b) respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor.

Qualifications:

Essential:

• Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skill, and ability.
  • High school education preferred.
  • Previous housekeeping experience.
  • Previous housekeeping supervisor experience.

Physical Requirements:

1. The incumbent should be able to stand continuously for entire shift
2. Incumbent must be able to communicate clearly. Long hours sometimes may be required. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
3. Continual walking.
4. Must be able to walk multiple flights of stairs
5. Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
6. Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
7. Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
8. Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by coworkers, guest, and members.
