What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Scheduler position at Margate Health and Rehab Center?
I. General Description:
The Scheduler performs staffing , scheduling, replacement staffing, orientation and record maintenance (attendance, licensing updates, in-service attendance) for the nursing department.
II. Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Administrative Functions
1. Coordinates all nursing services monthly work schedules, daily staffing, replacement staffing and completes daily schedule.
2. Assists in coordinating and providing orientation appointments and programs for all nursing employees.
3. Responsible for maintaining all nursing records in a timely and accurate manner.
4. Completes daily posting of employee schedules
5. Maintains nursing attendance records in an organized fashion.
6. Coordinates orientation of new staff in terms of scheduling.
7. Posts all in-service attendance to individual employee records
8. Answers the telephone, makes calls and relays messages.
9. Maintains or assists in maintaining a written schedule of patient appointments.
10. Stocks nursing cabinets with forms.
11. Files telephone orders, physician orders.
12. Conducts armband audits.
13. Tracks incident reports.
14. Schedules doctor appointment and coordinates transportation for residents. Informs family and nursing staff of resident's scheduled appointments.
15. Interacts closely with HR department for determination of job openings.
16. Acts as administrative assistant to the DON with courtesy and diplomacy.
17. Familiarize themselves with the facility’s philosophy, objectives, policies and regulations.
18. Does not give out confidential information.

III. Working Conditions:
A. Able to walk short distances, sit, stand, bend, and lift light objects (using proper body mechanics).
B. Able to work in supply rooms and small spaces with limited or no windows but with good ventilation.
IV. Qualifications:
A. Communicates well with medical staff, co-workers, supervisors, and auxiliary staff.
B. Have a pleasing manner in personal and telephone contacts.
C. Be tactful but persistent in performing duties and responsibilities.
D. Able to work on his/her own without direct supervision.
E. Able to exercise judgment requiring professional intervention.
F. Able to carry out duties and responsibilities in a confidential manner.
G. Able to follow directions and instructions of supervisor.
H. High School graduate or completion of the general equivalency diploma (GED).
I. Good command of the English language.
J. Knowledgeable of medical terminology and/or procedures.
