Job description - Accounting Clerk
Margolis Edelstein, an insurance defense law firm with over 100 attorneys in nine offices throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, is seeking a well-qualified applicant for an Accounting Clerk role in the Philadelphia, PA office. The role will involve reporting directly to the Controller and various members of the Accounting Department, primarily handling administrative tasks to ensure proper financial documentation. This candidate should have experience in a professional legal environment. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities:
- Reviewing and producing invoices and processing checks
- Processing and posting incoming payments
- Checking for accuracy in reports, figures, and postings
- Preparing reports as necessary
- Pulling expense receipts as requested by the Billing Department
- Posting credit card entries, reviewing receipts for accuracy
- Reconciling accounts and reporting discrepancies to management
- Assist in general ledger activity review and analysis
- Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other related areas
- Assist with clerical and Administrative duties as assigned (mailing copying, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Three years of experience in an accounting clerk or similar position (preferred)
- Associate degree or higher in accounting or a related field (preferred)
- Experience in a professional legal environment
- Strong experience in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
- Comfortable and proficient in a deadline driven environment
- Detail orientated
- Good verbal and written skills
