We are looking for a skilled Certified Respiratory Therapist PRN to join our team at Maria Parham Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing quality patient care and helping us achieve our mission of delivering exceptional healthcare services. In this role, you will be responsible for examining patients with breathing-related conditions and conducting diagnostic testing, consulting with physicians to develop and implement a treatment plan for the patient, performing physiotherapy and other treatments, teaching patients to use medications, measuring lung capacity and analyzing blood samples using a blood gas analyzer, delivering and assessing response to ordered therapy per plan of care, monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition as appropriate, evaluating respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research and best practices, responding to codes and calls for emergent assistance, assessing patient condition and delivering appropriate treatment, educating the patient and family about the patient's illness and providing information about community support groups and other resources, monitoring, receiving, stocking and distributing respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders, maintaining storage areas with required supply levels and equipment, disassembling, cleaning and sterilizing equipment, performing preventative maintenance and calibration of machines, calibrating ventilators, disassembling and cleaning tags and bags clean equipment, drawing ABG's, bubble CPAP for infants, aerosol therapy, MDI therapy, Pulse oximetry, ETCO2 monitoring, oxygen therapy, CPT, BIPAP's, Ventilators (adult, pediatric, infant) EEG's and Pulmonary Function testing, using computer system to enter orders, document therapy, order supplies and charge for therapy administered. To be successful in this role, you must have critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. A graduate of a Respiratory Care Program of Study for an Advanced Practice Level Respiratory Therapist with an Associate's degree in Science or Certification of Graduation is required. Active and valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) certification is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon hire. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required within six (6) months from hire date. Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) is preferred.
