Position Summary: Manages the overall operation of a productive, efficient and profitable grocery store by directing and coordinating work activity consistent with established goals, objectives and policies assigned by Corporate Management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the daily operation of the store as to meet customer requirements and a good work environment while maximizing profits.
- Carry out all directives from Corporate Management.
- Responsible for the projection of weekly, monthly & quarterly sales and wage percentages.
- Responsible for attaining the store gross profit budgets.
- Direct all department heads in achieving sales, payroll and gross profit budgets.
- Hire, supervise, train and discipline all store personnel, as needed through Department Heads.
- Make recommendations of decisions to hire, transfer, discipline, make wage adjustments and terminations for all departments with approval from Corporate office.
- Develop good customer and employee relations.
- Supervise all departments daily.
- Motivate all Department Heads to create enthusiasm and high morale throughout the store.
- Manage customer incidents or complaints.
- Enforce all governmental (state, city and county) regulations (Weights & Measures, Health Department, ABC, FDA, Etc) and represent the Company at hearings, in the event of a citation.
- Enforce all governmental OSHA and Company safety / security rules and policies.
- Responsible for the safe-keeping and security of all assets, funds, contents of building, etc
- Oversee the timely submission to Corporate of store administrative paperwork such as invoices, safety reports, LOA / vacation requests, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must have a minimum of 5 years Store Director experience operating a high volume grocery store.
- Must have Grocery Store Management experience in the Southern California area.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good leadership skills and ability to effectively communicate with customers, employees and vendors both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of weights, measures and health department regulations.
- Knowledge of all power related equipment.
- Must read, write and have above average analytical skills to understand profit and loss statements and to interpret various reports
- Ability to train, motivate, and supervise employees.
- Computer skills
- Must be able to speak and read English. Spanish skills a plus.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Overall supervision of all employees in the store. Specific number depends upon store.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Lifting and carrying over 40 pounds
- Bending, reaching and grasping.
- Standing for extended periods and walking
- Ability to focus and concentrate in order to accomplish all job tasks.
