Responsibilities
- Propagate and maintain top-quality plant material in the greenhouses and poly houses.
- Manage scheduling for all herbaceous propagation efforts.
- Care for and oversee stock management, including staged and inventory items.
- Inspect all plant material within and incoming to the greenhouse.
- Collaborate with the herbaceous plant buyer on future crop selections.
- Handle purchasing of greenhouse supplies such as fertilizers, chemicals, and equipment.
- Engage in offsite trips to source necessary plant materials.
- Manage and participate in the loading and unloading of plant deliveries.
- Maintain accurate records of plant propagation, movements, and waste.
- Ensure adherence to purchasing procedures and maintain a detailed database of plant materials.
- Lead and mentor team members, including Greenhouse Crew Members and the Herbaceous Coordinator, to ensure professional development.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture or related field preferred.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a greenhouse or growing environment.
- Advanced knowledge of plant materials and growing techniques.
- Proven leadership skills and ability to train staff.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer operations.
