Marianne’s Ice Cream is a Santa Cruz landmark, serving the community since 1947. We make delicious, handmade, super-premium ice cream for our retail scoop shops and hundreds of wholesale customers across the larger Bay area.
We are seeking an experienced hand to be a full-time member of our Ice Cream Production team. The production team is responsible for all aspects of making fantastic ice cream, from quality control, flavoring and measuring batches, making and mixing-in ingredients to cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining equipment. We are looking for someone with some leadership experience that will take the initiative and proactively solve problems when necessary.
This job is for a person who wants to have both brain and body active throughout the day. The physical side includes learning proper ice cream handling technique, lifting up to 50 lbs. multiple times per day and being on your feet and/or moving throughout the day. The mental side requires solid basic math skills to support recipe mixing, organization and tracking of supplies, usage of technology for tracking production, and learning how the equipment works. Familiarity with basic mechanical tasks for assembling and maintaining equipment is also required (tightening and removing bolts, clamps, and seals).

Responsibilities include, (but are not limited to:)
Maintaining the success and quality of Marianne’s Ice Cream by participating in or leading any of the following tasks:
- Follow SOPs, GMPs and HACCP
- Set up/Breakdown, clean and sanitize production lines and equipment
- Load vats with correct product, accurate measurements and flavorings
- Clean In Place system for Ice Cream Machine & equipment, proper use and handling of chemicals
- Maintain work areas, clean and free of hazards
- Maintain a clean and organized walk-in fridge, FIFO
- Observe and listen to equipment to detect possible malfunctions, such as leaks or plugging and report malfunctions to management
- Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality
- Support Ice Cream production team throughout the day
- Be efficient, use and prioritize time wisely
- Communicating relevant information to plant managers
- Be able and willing to go above and beyond when the team needs it
- Be obsessive about quality
Qualifications/ Requirements:
- Ability to see and read recipe cards, basic math, able to add/subtract/multiply and think logically
- Follow instructions
- Strong problem solving, with the ability to analyze situations quickly and efficiently
- Track multiple tasks that are executed simultaneously
- Able to lift 50 pounds chest high multiple times in shift
- Able to push/pull/lift 50 pounds repeatedly
- Able to work as a team and communicate effectively in a fast-paced wet environment
- Forklift experience is a plus
- Loves ice cream

Schedule
- Must be flexible and available to work weekdays and/or weekends. Schedule will primarily be 5 days (Monday thru Friday), 5:30am start
- Schedule may shift due to seasonality and demand.
- Holidays must be requested off in advance and you will be required to work some holidays.
Experience:
- Work Experience – Minimum 5 years
- Food manufacturing or kitchen experience (2 years)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.50 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
