Job Summary

Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring a Maintenance Operations Specialist. This position performs skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to support the proper operation of buildings, utilities, equipment, grounds, and facilities.

Essential Functions

25% - Monitors, maintains, and performs minor repairs for mechanical, carpentry, locks, plumbing, electrical, life safety, and energy management system issues. Investigates and obtains trades services if necessary; coordinates and oversees work performed by external vendors.

25% - Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on building systems, life safety systems, college fleet vehicles, and college equipment.

25% - Responds to work order requests and/or emergency calls in order to support campus operations.

15% - Assists with the set-up and tear-down of campus-wide events; including tables, chairs, staging, and signage/banner installation.

10% Other duties as assigned commensurate to the grade level of the position

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and three (3) years of full-time equivalent specialized building maintenance and/or repair experience related to area of assignment.

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A. Experience working in a facilities maintenance position in a large institutional setting such as a school system, a college or university, or a municipal operation

B. Experience completing assigned work orders through an electronic work order system to perform general preventative maintenance tasks and/or repairs on a daily basis

C. Experience using a forklift, scissor lift, pallet jack, and/or other types of industrial equipment

D. Experience with General Industry or Construction Safety Standards

Special Working Conditions

Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements

May require some evening or weekend work

May be required to lift or carry up to 75 lbs with or without a reasonable accommodation
