As an Air Instrument Technician, you will implement work of substantial difficulty administering a variety of specialized analytical, meteorological, and recording instruments for the detection of atmospheric pollutants while working independently and putting your industry expertise to good use.

We Require

  • Two years of experience in electronic repair and maintenance

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Post-secondary education in electronics may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis

Note: Candidates must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license and have an acceptable driving record by the time of hire

Job Contributions

  • Perform mandated quality control and quality assurance checks bi-weekly, quarterly, semi-annually, and annually in accordance with EPA regulations

  • Assemble, install, operate, repair, maintain, and calibrate sampling units by rebuilding pumps and documenting associated events

  • Maintain and track sampler instrument performance logs and create reports in accordance with Air Quality Department SOPs

  • Prepare technical reports and assist in the collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data

  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of monitoring sites and document activities, including site repairs, site safety, and security

  • Participate in DHS environmental sampling, training exercises, and special events as assigned

Working Conditions

  • Work will occur in an office and field environment

  • While performing the duties & responsibilities, the employee may be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations

  • Position is subject to atmospheric conditions: Fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation

  • Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration

  • Must possess or obtain by the time of hire a valid Arizona driver's license with an acceptable driving record

  • Within one year of hire, must obtain certification in the USEPA 40-Hour Hazardous Materials Incident Response Operation Course

  • Specified positions may require a medical exam, US Citizenship, and the ability to pass DHS background successfully

  • Protective Equipment Required: Safety boots, full-face respirator, Tyvek suit., earplugs, dust masks, safety glasses, hard hat
