REPORTS TO: Principal
Position Summary
The Elementary Counselor will be responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering a
comprehensive school counseling program to support students’ academic, career, and
personal/social development. The counselor will collaborate with students, parents, staff, and the community to ensure student success and well-being.

Position Summary
The Elementary Counselor will be responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering a
comprehensive school counseling program to support students’ academic, career, and
personal/social development. The counselor will collaborate with students, parents, staff, and the community to ensure student success and well-being.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Provides direct Student services, individual/group counseling services, and crisis intervention to assigned students
- Furnishes required reports to CPS, legal system and other involved agencies, as Necessary
- Classroom presentations
- Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings
- Provides consultation for school staff regarding mental health issues of clients (as appropriate)
- Conducts group counseling as necessary
- Other duties as assigned
- Implement responsive services to support students, parents, and staff, including crisis intervention, consultation, and referrals.
- Serve as a member of the District Crisis Response Team, Threat Assessment Team, and other safety-related teams as needed.
- Participate in IEP and 504 meetings and assist in implementing necessary accommodations and supports.
- Coordinate student transitions between elementary to middle school and middle school to high school to ensure a seamless academic progression.
- Use student performance data and assessment results to guide the development and implementation of the counseling program.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with FERPA and ASCA Ethical Standards.
- Educate and engage students and families regarding safety, mental health, and wellness initiatives.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in school counseling.
- Knowledge of academic planning, career counseling, and personal/social development strategies.
- Understanding of crisis intervention techniques and referral processes. Ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff, families, and community partners.
- Strong knowledge of FERPA, ASCA, and professional ethical standards for school counselors.
- Skilled in data analysis to make informed decisions about counseling services.
- Arizona Counseling Licensure as determined by the Arizona Department of Education
- Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Valid Arizona Driver’s License (if required)
- Travel between school sites may be required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Must be able to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
