Position Responsibilities : The University of Redlands is seeking to fill a faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders beginning September 1, 2025. We are an ASHA accredited program with a strong commitment to communication sciences and the liberal arts at the undergraduate level, as well as the academic and clinical preparation of graduate students in speech-language pathology. Responsibilities include teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with a typical course load of six courses per year.
The University values applicants who have experience working with students from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds. Candidates are asked to identify their strengths and experiences in assisting diverse student populations to accomplish curricular goals. The successful candidate will be expected to support the College of Arts and Sciences’ general education curriculum.
Position Criteria : Eligible candidates will have a doctorate in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field earned by the position start date. The Certificate of Clinical Competence and eligibility for a state license in speech-language pathology are preferred. We welcome applicants with diverse areas of expertise, particularly those with expertise in autism, social communication, fluency, voice, or AAC. We seek candidates who can contribute to the department’s priorities in multiculturalism and multilingualism and value an active or potential research program that fosters student engagement. A commitment to participation in service at the department and university levels is essential.

Working Conditions : Standard classroom / office setting. Duties performed are primarily in a classroom / office environment while sitting at a desk or computer workstation or in meetings.
Physical Demands : Incumbents regularly sit for long periods; walk short distances; may travel to various locations for meetings; use hands and fingers to operate an electronic keyboard or other office machines; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; stoop or kneel or crouch to file; speak clearly and distinctly; see to read fine print and operate computer; hear and understand voices over telephone and in person; and lift, carry and / or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
