POSITION SUMMARY:  The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator works closely with Hopalong’s cat and dog program managers. The main objective of this position is to continuously build, grow and manage a solid volunteer base to support the Hopalong program. The position will assist in coordinating all aspects of Hopalong’s volunteer program recruitment, including implementation and administration of Volgistics.  This position not only recruits a team of skilled volunteers, but will manage their daily/weekly tasks and implement a seamless adherence to quality and support.

 

The Volunteer Engagement Program Coordinator must be sensitive to the nuances of understanding and supervising volunteers as well as have the ability to balance the desire of volunteers and prospective volunteers with the needs of the Hopalong Volunteer program.  They are accountable for accomplishing department goals, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and supporting the mission, goals and philosophy of Marin Humane.

HOURS/CLASSIFICATION:  20hrs/wk – Non-exempt

SALARY:  G10 - $26.98/hr to $29.96/hr .50 Spanish-speaking differential

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

COORDINATE HOPALONG VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

  • ·       Supervise and coordinate volunteers with daily and weekly tasks to include animal care, animal transport, office duties and data entry, mobile adoptions, foster and adoption screenings, events, marketing outreach, and fundraising support
  • ·       Update and revise volunteer job descriptions, handbook, and training materials
  • ·       Hold regular volunteer orientations
  • Update and prepare all orientation materials, including the Power Point presentation, handouts and follow-up correspondence
  • ·    Develop and maintain volunteer communications
  • ·    Evaluate volunteer performance
  • ·     Maintain and update Hoplalong Volunteer Program SOPs
  • ·     Work with Marin Humane’s Volunteer Engagement Manager to recognize Volunteer accomplishments
  • Coordinate corporate group volunteer inquiries, schedule activity days, assist in supervising and appreciating volunteers on day of event
  • Recruit, screen and train new volunteers
  • Serve as the Hopalong Program first point of contact for prospective volunteers, and as a Marin Humane volunteer ambassador
  • Respond to inquiries from the public received via website, e-mail, phone and walk-ins
  • Track volunteers’ progress through our system, ensuring a positive experience as they train to become an active ; managing applications, follow-up information, filing, updating records in Volgistics
  • ·       Work with the Development department, determining areas needing volunteer support for annual fund-raising events, specifically the Hopalong Furrball, holiday, community and Marin Humane events as needed  Recruit, schedule, train and assist with supervising volunteers for these events as needed

 

IMPLEMENTATION AND ADMINSTRATION OF VOLGISTICS

  • Provide Volgistics training to all volunteers
  • Track volunteer hours; generate reports as required and requested
  • ·    Continue to explore, recommend and implement aspects of Volgistics which enhance Hopalong’s use of the program
  • Provide Volgistics support to all volunteers
  • Maintain all volunteer information in Volgistics
  • Write SOPs regarding all aspects of utilization and administration of Volgistics
