Summary: The Registered Nurse – Operating Room (OR) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care through the intra-operative surgery phase. Assists physicians during surgery and procedures by functioning in a circulating role. Participates with other center team members to provide optimal patient care and efficient patient flow, taking into consideration the population-specific needs for patients at all stages of life.
Essential Responsibilities will include the following, and other duties may be assigned.
Patient Care Duties:
· Performs professional intra-operative nursing care for patients to ensure a caring patient experience.
· Coordinates with other internal or external disciplines that are involved in providing patient care.
· Reviews inventory and stock levels of equipment and supplies before any procedures.
· Ensures patient safety and care through the coordination of surgical technologists and surgeons.
· Ensures patient safety through transportation, transferring, and positioning.
-Will be working as an OR RN preceptor for education of clinical staff.
· Assists during patient induction and emergence.
· Completes appropriate medical records documentation and responds to patient requests for care.
· Evaluates outcomes and adjusts nursing care processes as necessary in consultation with other nursing staff and physicians.
· Administers sedation analgesia under the direction of the attending physicians.
Safety and Infection Control Duties:
· Adheres to established Company and ASC safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
· Strictly adheres to aseptic techniques using a variety of supplies and instruments while actively monitoring the environment to ensure a sterile technique is maintained throughout procedures. Responsible for enforcing recommended standards and practices in support of infection control and anticipating breaks in sterilization techniques.
· Ensures procedure safety and success by leading the team responsible for participating actively in the time-out process.
· Actively adheres to standard safety procedures regarding proper personal sanitation and hygiene.
· Completes employee and patient incident documentation timely while identifying potentially unsafe conditions.
· Demonstrates a complete understanding of established emergency procedures and provides appropriate support.
· Focuses on process improvement by participating in inpatient service and safety process reviews.

· Education:
Required: Degree from an accredited school of nursing or a Registered Nurse (RN) Diploma.
· Experience:
o Required: Minimum of two to three years related experience in a multi-specialty operating room, in an ambulatory surgery center.
· Licensure and Certification:
o Required: Advanced Cardiac Life Support – ACLS, Basic Life Support Certification – BLS, Registered Nurse - State Licensure – RN.
· Language Skills: Must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Writes routine reports and correspondence and speaks effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
· Mathematical Skills: Must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume while applying concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
· Reasoning Ability: Must possess the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions while interpreting a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
· Healthcare Business Acumen: Must have the knowledge and be well-versed in the nuances and complexities of the business aspects of healthcare, including Protected Health Information (PHI) procedures and safeguarding other identifiable information regarding patient data.
· Computer Skills: Must have knowledge of Internet software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
