Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during various procedures, including placing and removing braces, taking impressions, and fitting retainers.
- Prepare treatment rooms and ensure all necessary instruments and materials are sterilized and ready for use.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize 3D scanners to capture digital impressions for treatment planning.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
- Manage patient appointments, including scheduling, confirming, and following up on visits.
- Monitor vital signs as needed during patient interactions.
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.
- Stay updated on medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and relevant orthodontic procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an Orthodontic Assistant or in a similar dental assistant role is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical coding, medical records management, and familiarity with Epic software is a plus.
- Strong understanding of anatomy knowledge related to orthodontics.
- Proficiency in taking vital signs and understanding basic clinical procedures.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient education and comfort.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
