Marine Biologics is a biomaterials business designing industrial compounds from macroalgae. We are working to build new chemical supply chains to meet the demands of the bioeconomy. Our first product brings together curated compositional data, formulation simulations, and green processing tech to create new macroalgae-based ingredient systems for the food & beverage industry.
Marine Biologics, Inc. is hiring a Project Manager to ensure internal objectives are met by implementing systems and processes to achieve critical company milestones. This cross-functional position will collaborate with teams across the company to deliver on expected quality, timelines, and cost. By working closely with R&D, Product, and Commercialization team leaders, the Project Manager will act as the liaison to implement the AGILE methodology through the JIRA tool within the organization. The ideal candidate will have experience working with remote teams, and will be comfortable functioning in both scientific/technical and business settings.
The Project Manager will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Communication between internal and external stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes for assigned projects, keeping teams and tasks on track throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop, drive and own the stage gate process for cross-functional projects, accounting for: risk mitigation, efficient resource allocation, and effective collaboration - keeping teams/tasks on track throughout the project lifecycle.
- Preparation of project plans, status reports, and updates for internal initiatives; hands-on coordination with internal departments/teams and work streams as needed.
- Facilitation of general and daily administrative tasks to keep remote operations cohesive and productive.
- Lead weekly team sprint meetings; support the development, coordination, and oversight of quarterly objectives and company milestones.
- Assist leadership team in identifying and implementing best practices for operating high performing, remote teams; be a culture and team-building ambassador for Marine Biologics.
Full-time, $85K-$110K/yr CAD benefits (based on experience)
Hybrid- Vancouver, Canada
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences, biotechnology, engineering, business, or related field; experience in biomass valorization for the new bioeconomy, preferred
- At least 2 years proven track record of PM duties and familiarity with various methodologies, including Agile; proficiency tools (e.g Asana, JIRA, Confluence, Trello etc…) and data-driven insights.
- Clear communication and problem-solving skills, while having the ability to navigate complex challenges and drive results in a fast-paced environment; solutions-first approach.
- Must be highly adaptable in ambiguous situations, and comfortable working in a startup environment.
- Familiarity with scaling-up technologies, valorizing product streams, setting-up a supply chain, data scaffolding, converting functional properties of materials into value.
- Proactive and motivated, with strong organizational skills; ability to build and maintain relationships in a global environment.
The core Marine Biologics team is composed of industry veterans, based in the US and EU, with deep expertise in bioprocessing, product innovation, and commercialization.
